Reliable grinds:[1]
- A walk in the villa gardens in Polythreme: 10 stories per ~12-action carousel (PoSIs only)
- ...a Sealed Archive from a heist at The offices of Baseborn & Fowlingpiece: ~95% chance of 8 stories per heist (requires Shadowy 90+)
- Ambush a few couriers for old times' sake in Spite: ~50% chance of 1 story per 2-action success (PoSIs only)
- Letters! as the reward for pickpocketing in Spite[2]: 1 story per ~15 actions. While you're out in the crowds, you can get an extra story if you meet Jack head-on whenever you happen to see him - roughly every ~21 card draws. (Total average: ~1 story per 8.75 actions.)
- Grind Visions of the Surface instead, and convert those to stories.
- ↑ Note: The seal of the hooded hawk in the Thieves' Cache is sometimes recommended as a grind, but the other options now available are better. The seal gives 3 stories per ~34 actions (~80/19 caches * 8+ actions/cache) at best - and per >>55 actions for those with pre-PoSI stats (>>13 actions/cache).
- ↑ You gain on average ~2.95 trophies per action, since the good cards are half as frequent as the middling ones. You need (4+1) actions to enter and leave the area. Jack is Very Infrequent, in a pool of 9 Standard and 2 other VI cards, all non-discardable.
